A few weeks ago I received a a phone call for an invitation to go to Hill View Manor in New Castle Pa from Doreen Hill.
It would be a coop investigation with Keystone Paranormal and I was offered 4 slots at $50.00 each. Cant really beat that so I sold 2 slots to which I got stuck with because of this or that and they didn’t show.
Tip and note to self: Collect cash before submitting numbers.
I had seen this place before in my many visits to the area and always wondered about the place.
Just recently it was featured on a few Paranormal TV shows. I was a little exited about the place because it seemed as if the activity was hopping right off the get go.
It had been many years since I had been to a really good location hunt, 15 years perhaps.
As most of you know I really don’t care much for the locations thing as I am not really a thrill seeker but what the heck I thought, I am in.
I found the place and pulled up at 5:45pm, it was a half hour later til someone else showed up which gave me enough time to run down to get some fast food and a sweat shirt at the general. It was friggen cold up there and I was about to spend 12 hours in it. People started arriving while I was shoving chicken sandwiches in my mouth off the dollar menu, I was going to need the carbs and energy.
As you guys know I am a skeptical believer so I didn’t put much thought into anything, was just looking for a good hunt. I had trouble concentrating because a teen was supposedly going to join me and had not yet arrived so I was worried a good bit about her safety though I had never met this person, its still someones child.
We set up the break room while waiting for the host Candy Braniff to show.
I set up in a side room simply because I had a shit load of gear with me. It gave me an opportunity to cleanse and ground myself and clear my mind a little bit before we got started.
Yes they have a break room that was heated for the most part with a huge pot of freshly made coffee to which I had nursed a half cup down every chance I got. They also have working rest rooms there on the main floor so no need to find a tree.
I finally got to meet Doreen, a very nice person that had organized the hunt. She had left Pittsburgh Paranormal and joined up with us briefly until she had some health issues.
Anyway after all the hand shaking and meet and greet, money was exchanged and the tour began.
Tip: Record the tour, because Candy has her shit together when it comes to this place. She does all the research on this place from day one on up by hand at the library. You will hear the history on this place and some of its patients as well as the hot spots. The information is overwhelmingly interesting. A great tour Candy, thank you.
After the tour we hung out a bit which was somewhat awkward for me since I was the only male on the hunt amongst people I had never met before.
It was a good time to slam another half cup of coffee down and double check my gear. One of the younger girls there had locked her keys in the car, Kaitlynn I think her name is, I suck at names. That dampened the mood for a bit.
I almost destroyed one of my dowsing rods to open the car up when we got news that AAA was coming out to open it.
Another favor from the host, Thank you.
Doreen and her team partner teamed up.
Bridget and Lisa teamed up.
The kids Kaitlynn and Chelsey teamed up.
I hunted alone.
To explain the interest of the sounds posted, the building is pretty solid so there is no settling noises. The wind was strong at times but had little effect on the building. I sat in each position for at least 15 minutes before starting an EVP session.
My first hunt was one the second floor. The area was huge and unknowingly got my first EVP as soon as I stepped through the door. A faint scream was recorded.

I wasn’t focused yet so I didn’t hear it with my own ears and it took me a few minutes to orientate to the darkness.
After I was on the floor and the door was closed behind me a cold blast had rushed past me. The building was already 47 degrees so this air was really cold.
I had walked down to the lounge area and sat for a bit in the darkness just taking in the atmosphere. I started an EVP session and this is one of them, not a voice but a sound. I enhanced the volume on the sound for a sec so you can clearly hear it.

After the EVP session I went to see the lunch lady. I humored myself and asked a few questions while there and I think I got something. I will ask a question, listen closely for the answer.

After a brief chit chat with the lunch lady I headed back down the corridor and did an EVP session in the hall way to which was pretty exiting because I was getting sounds in different areas back and forth as if jesting with me.

I did not want to hog all of the activity on this floor so I went down to warm up and switch floors, I was up there about an hour.
I didn’t tell anyone of the activity I was picking up because I wanted them to go in with an open mind as I did.
The next hunt was the 3rd floor which was a bit of a creep factor for some reason. Very very dark and cold up there and seemingly melancholic.
Here is a shot I was using extra lighting as well as flash but the image seems a little dark but I will not speculate on why. The image is original and the thumb print is still on it, see for yourself. I just found it weird on why the right side was pretty much blackened out. I use my right hand index and forefinger to hold and shoot while I hold a 9 LED pin light between the pinky and ring fingers for the extra light. I normally get some bright shots from this technique.
I did get a few sounds from up here as well.

Here is sounds as if someone flicked a light switch. You will here the sound then a pause as I snap the light around to see whats going on.

Here was a pop so loud that it echoed, It actually startled me, have a listen.

When I went down to see what was going on I picked this up.

Now just to be clear there was a pretty good chance there was someone on the bottom floor below me but also the space was dead silent and I made no reference to it so I did not hear it with my own ears. I am not calling it paranormal but it is there all the same. You decide.
Now here is one of those things I didnt get either, this was a very loud noise but I made no reference to it either which is something I always do. Might also hear voices.

About this time I headed back to warm up again. I discovered one of the kids was overwhelmed with fear while the other was ready to hunt. This is a bad mixture. Another was 2 experienced hunters together and 2 that had never hunted before.
Each of the hunters should have split and taken 2 of the others with them. 1 adult 1 youth.
This would have reduced the hysteria for the one and given more focused opportunities for the other while educating at the same time.
After more coffee and more food I headed outside. The back of this place was one huge unmarked graveyard but first I had to stop at the bunker.
This was a small 3 section storage bunker that was partially underground. When I went in my shoulder brushed against a hinge and the sound startled me. I got past it and made it to the back. It seemed creepy going in since I had no idea what was in there.
Later I took Lisa and Bridget out there and made them go in one at a time. Yeah I know what your thinking and your right, I am mean, But if they had any fear they learned to conquer it that night.
As I walked further out back aimlessly I headed for some pine trees mentioned during the tour and some rabbits bolted out of the brush. I almost shit myself on that one thinking I was going to end up a meal for a grizzlybird or something.
It took me at least a minute to regroup.
The only marked graves were a few of those of veterans, I found this one under a pine tree. Thank you for your service Mr.Jones.
Things were pretty dead in the cemetery literally so I headed back in to recharge. I had 220 minutes on my battery and it was down to 15 minutes before I even got to the grave site.
This time I downed a whole cup of coffee because it was bitter cold outside. They allowed me to smoke in the room I was occupying so that was nice.
My next destination was the basement boiler room, I had been waiting for this one all night. This is the room that had a few extras in it that takes the hunt to the edge of danger.
I got some good EVP responses from here.

I was trying to communicate with a person named Saari here. I just heard a sound that the recorder did not pick up so I tried to follow up on it.

These are just some of the highlights of the night that went on. I spent a good bit of time explaining my gear or techniques or reviewing someones camera in between hunts.
I also tried out the Singapore Theory but in a rather bad choice of rooms, The Chapel.
I played oldies off my Blackberry and used the starburst laser for lights. Some sang with while another held an evp session while Chelsey danced in the corner, yes Chelsey my cameras can see in the dark.
Its Youtube for you little one.
12 hours really went by rather quickly.
I think I made some new friends, everyone seemed pretty nice. Even with a few setbacks things went rather well.
I will finish up in the next few days on this so check back.
Here is one for the road. There is a window in the background.

If you would like to organize a group hunt I would highly suggest this place as a destination for you.
It is affordable in comparison to other places with a good set up. You have needed facilities available, there is space to stretch out and get some sleep if you bring a sleeping bag.
They give you free run of the place to do what you want, how you want but please be respectful to the place.
Don’t touch the artifacts.
Get permission before conducting experiments and please use the facilities provided for rest room breaks.
Fast food nearby and fresh coffee is made on site, not bad either.
There is also a Radio Shack right down the street in case you forgot some gear or batteries.
They also have WiFi and Hard line internet for you to use, great for live broadcasting over the net which I hear is popular hubbub these days.
